Postponement of FOTO WIEN to 2022

Due to the current Covid 19 developments, we are unfortunately forced to postpone FOTO WIEN. The planning security for all participants involved in the festival is simply not given at the moment and the health risk is too great. Therefore, after a thorough internal review and consultation with programme partners and political representatives, we have come to the decision to postpone FOTO WIEN by one year so that the festival can take place in its entirety from 9 to 27 March 2022 – please mark this date ...

Under the title “Rethinking Nature/Rethinking Landscape” the curators of the European Month of Photography network focus on the representation of nature in contemporary photography.
Exhibition projects in relation to this theme will be exhibited during the photo Festivals EMOPLUX (Luxembourg), CIRCULATION(S) (Paris) and IMAGO LISBOA (Lisbon) in 2021 and at FOTO WIEN (Vienna) in March 2022.

Rethinking Nature/Rethinking Landscape

Rethinking Nature/Rethinking Landscape is the new theme of the EMOP network. The curators of the participating photo festivals  are currently reviewing works by emerging European photographers. The five nominated artists for the EMOP Arendt Award will be announced in October 2020.

Vienna meeting April

The Vienna meeting end of April confirmed a close collaboration of five cities (Berlin, Budapest, Bratislava, Luxembourg, Paris and Vienna ) on the common project “The body in contemporary European photography”. The subject was discussed in depth within the five curators and a list of about 40 artists/photographers was kept to be part of the book project and exhibitions in Budapest and Bratislava ( autumn 2018), Vienna and Luxembourg ( spring 2019). Berlin meeting February

Emop curators met in Berlin on February 26/27th at Podewil Palais of Kulturprojekte Berlin to discuss content of the next book on contemporary photography and connected exhibition projects. Discussions addressed several topics such as the body in contemporary photography and how digital technologies influence representation. Outcome was a list of about 40 artists whose works need further discussions.
